My first podcast interview - embracing the power of deliberate career breaks
When was the last time you stepped out of your comfort zone?
I recently had the pleasure of being interviewed by Digby Scott for his podcast ‘Dig Deeper’, and, given it was my first interview, I definitely felt pushed outside of mine.
In this episode, we dive into the transformative value of taking intentional career breaks as part of a well-lived life.
You’ll hear my word for 2024 is ‘generate’. It signifies my intention to create space to generate energy and new opportunities through action, new ideas and putting myself at my growth edge. This interview felt in direct alignment with 'generate', so I leaned into the discomfort of my first ever interview.
Sure, it brought on some major cringe moments (who actually enjoys hearing their own voice on playback?), but I also discovered a lot about myself and gained valuable insights from Digby, and despite the personal cringe factor, truly think there is some gold for people to be found in our conversation.
In this episode, we discuss:
Why intentional career breaks can lead to personal growth and reinvention.
How being deliberate and reflective during these breaks can lead to a better understanding of oneself and one's values.
The need to listen to your inner voice, make trade-offs, experiment and take risks to pursue your desired life path.
The rise of portfolio careers
The call for organisations to support alternative work models, providing greater autonomy and flexibility for people.
